M/s S. D. Engineer & Son were the recipient of
the
Best
Custom
House
Agents’
Trophy
for
the
Year
1996
awarded
to
them
during
the
Safety
Celebrations
Week
that
the
Mumbai
Port
Trust
held
recently.
The
coveted
trophy
is
awarded
to
the
outstanding
Custom
House
Agent
for
excellence
achieved
in
providing
accident
free
service
to
the
trade
in
relation
to
the
output
in
terms
of
containers
handled
/
tonnage
handled,
number
of
persons employed, and equipment deployed, according
to
BCHAA
press
|
release. Mr
Sorab
P Engineer,
Managing
partner
of the
leading
International
Freight
Forwarding
and Custom
House
Agency
M/s S.D.
Engineer
&
Son (Established
in 1908),
received
the trophy
from Mr
Sharad
Kale,
MBPT Chairman,
on behalf
of the
firm at
a glittering
ceremony
organised
by the
MBPT Safety
Department.
Dignitaries
from the
State
Government,
labour
and Port
Users
were present
on the
occasion.Mr
Engineer
is the
President
of the
Bombay
Custom
House
Agents'
Association
and a
Trustee
of the
MBPT and
JNPT.
He is
also a
member
of the
Custom
Advisory
Committee
(CAC)
of the
Mumbai
Customs,
an August
body of
trade
/ bureaucrat
representatives
specially
set up
by the
Government
of India
for resolving
procedural
difficulties
of a general
nature
relating
to Customs
working
procedure.Because
of his
wide knowledge
and experience
of the
trade,
Mr Engineer
has been
appointed
a member
on the
Public
Grievances
Committee
of the
Bombay
Customs
as a special
invitee.
He has
been a
member
of the
Cargo
Facilitation
Committee
of the
Airport
Authority
of India,
Mumbai
for the
past 5
years.
A commerce
graduate
from Sydenham
College
of Commerce
and Economics
and ex-student
of Cathedral
and John
Connon
School,
Mr Engineer
is also
the Honorary
Treasurer
and office
-bearer
of the
Federation
of Freight
Forwarder'
s Associations
in India
(FFFAI),
the apex
body of
Custom
House
Agents
in India.
He is
the Chairman
of the
Bombay
Custom
House
Agents'
Benevolent
